Who wants a pet Bear? poetry session

English: Writing, composition skills, planning writing, evaluating and editing, reviewing and sharing work. History- significant person in history

Find out about the famous poet Lord Byron and his amazing menagerie of animals that lived with him at Newstead Abbey including Boatswain, Byron's beloved dog and Bruin his pet bear. In this session the group will create a word bank to describe and talk about their ideal pets. They will then play with adverbs, nouns, adjectives and synonyms to create their own menagerie poems.

This session can be combined with a Byron focussed tour of the house, or our animal themed tour to create a full day for your class.

Duration: 1.5 hours | 10.30am–12pm or 1pm–2.30pm
