Open the Toybox!

KS1 History: changes within living memory and beyond living memory; understanding some of the ways in which we find out about the past

Open our Victorian toybox and look at, explore and play with a selection of real and replica Victorian and old-fashioned toys, investigate how they were made and how they compare to toys of today. What were these toys made of and how did they work?  Were there different toys for boys and girls or rich and poor children in those days? A great way to explore materials whilst enjoying the experience of handling and playing with a wide range of toys from the past.

Create a whole day out for your class exploring Victoran life at Newstead. This session can be combined with other's such as Below Stairs and the Victorian kitchen.
