Dr Livingstone, Victorian explorer


History: Discuss Victorian interest in science and discovery. Study the impact of a significant individual's work on society.

The children meet Dr Livingstone the famous Victorian missionary and explorer who is staying at Newstead Abbey. As his friends the Webbs and most of their servants are away, the children assist him in making butter in the kitchen for his tea  and washing and polishing below stairs. Dr Livingstone the takes them on a grand tour of the splendid rooms, telling them about his African expeditions, his thrilling adventures and how he saved Mr Webb’s life!
